Cleveland State University’s Adult, Professional, and Higher Education Program (APHE) prepares individuals who work in a variety of roles in the diverse field of adult education.
The Adult, Professional, and Higher Education (APHE) Master’s of Education is a 30-credit hour program that has been preparing students to work in the field of adult education for over 25 years. Current students and graduates work in a variety of areas that include community-based education, workplace learning, human resources, healthcare education and higher education. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that Education, Training, and Library Occupations are going to grow 5% over the next ten years, a rate higher than most occupations.
Our faculty are accomplished in the field of adult education, higher education, workplace learning, and healthcare education. They have published books, have numerous articles published in top tier journals, and presented at international and national conferences.
Today’s rapidly changing and technological world requires adaptable and innovative problem solvers who are able to adjust to changes on the job and/or changes in their careers. Educating adults has become a focal point as the influx of adult learners into adult education settings has increased demand for qualified adult educators. The Adult, Professional and Higher Education program is a practitioner’s degree that is intended to increase the knowledge and competence of those who work with adult learners. In addition, our students are able to specialize in their focal area of adult learning and development, professional education, or higher education.
