Mentoring and Internships
The School of Urban Affairs provides student enrichment opportunities that foster learning outside the classroom, including the Internship Program and the Mentoring Program. Internships and mentoring provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage with professionals in public and nonprofit organizations across the fields embodied throughout our academic degree programs.


Internships are an integral part of the School of Urban Affairs and constitute the core of experiential learning. Every undergraduate student is required to complete an internship as part of their path to degree completion, and internship opportunities are available to all interested and eligible graduate students as well. The School has provided over 240 internships for School of Urban Affairs students over the past three years alone (2015-2018). The Mentoring Program matches undergraduate and graduate students with executive-level public and nonprofit sector community leaders based on each student's unique career aspirations. The program runs throughout the duration of one academic year and includes individual mentoring sessions, monthly on-campus group activities, network events, and career development sessions. Mentors provide guidance and career advice as students examine career choices, goals, and objectives. Learn more about the Mentoring Program. »
