Dr. Elena Andrei

Dr. Elena Andrei is an assistant professor of TESOL and TESOL Program Coordinator at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Andrei’s research interests include second language literacy, teacher education, and non-native English speaking teachers.

Dr. Judith Ausherman

Dr. Judith Ausherman’s research interests include promoting education for health, health literacy and healthy living.

Dr. Tachelle Banks

Dr. Tachelle Banks is the Associate Vice President of Institutional Diversity and serves as Chairperson of the Department of Teacher Education and a full Professor of Special Education.  Dr. Banks’s research interests includes behavior disorders, cognitive behavior interventions, and teacher quality which focuses on the role that culture and ethnicity play in the traditionally marginalized student population.

Dr. Mary Frances Buckley

Dr. Mary Frances Buckley is an assistant professor of Adolescent/Young Adult English Education in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education.  Dr. Buckley’s research includes adolescent literacies, new media and digital literacies, and critical inquiry. 

Dr. Melanie Caughey

Dr. Melanie Caughey is the visiting assistant professor for gifted and talented education at Cleveland State University. Her research interests include advanced secondary coursework and fidelity of implementation of curriculum.

Dr. Paula Chan

Dr. Paula Chan is an Assistance Professor of Special Education.  Dr. Chan’s research interests focus on improving post-school outcomes for adolescents with disabilities.

Dr. Katie Clonan-Roy

Dr. Katie Clonan-Roy’s research interests center on the relationships between adolescent development, schooling, and gender/sexuality.

Dr. Diane G. Corrigan

Dr. Corrigan is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Curriculum & Foundations. Dr. Corrigan’s research focuses on social justice, urban communities, and student achievement.

Dr. Anne Galletta

Dr. Galletta’s research interests focus on the nature of social and structural relations and dimensions of human experiences within public space and institutions.

Dr. Joanne E. Goodell

Dr. Goodell is a Professor of Teacher Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Goodell’s research interests focus on equity, reform and professional development issues in the teaching and learning of mathematics and related disciplines in high-schools and universities.

Dr. Wendy Green

Dr. Green is Associate Professor of Adult, Professional and Higher Education and Program Director, MEd in Health Professions Education in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Green’s research focuses on the role of social identity affinity groups in higher education.

Dr. Karla Hamlen Mansour

Dr. Hamlen Mansour is an Associate Professor of Educational Research in the Department of Educational Studies, Research and Technology. Dr. Hamlen Mansour’s research interests include choices and strategies in video games, and ways in which these relate to general learning strategies, academic ethics, creativity, and problem-solving styles.  

Dr. Frederick Hampton

Dr. Brian E. Harper

Dr. Harper is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies, Research and Technology at Cleveland State University. Dr. Harper’s research interests include African American racial identity development and motivational psychology particularly for students in urban settings.

Dr. Grace Hui-Chen Huang

Dr. Grace Hui-Chen Huang is an Associate Professor in the Early Childhood Program in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Hui-Chen Huang’s research interests focus on the parental involvement, early childhood family education, urban family education, and Chinese families and education.

Dr. R Elliot Ingersoll

Dr. Ingersoll is a Professor of Counseling and Chairperson of the CASAL Department at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Ingersoll’s research interests focus on integrating Integral theory into training mental health professionals, psychopharmacology, and spiritual approaches to counseling.

Dr. Debbie K. Jackson

Dr. Jackson is an Associate Professor in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Jackson has extensive experience in curriculum redesign within the teacher education programs and in STEM education.

Dr. Dakota King-White

Dr. King-White is a Professor in the Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning (CASAL).  Dr. King-White’s research interests include designing a group counseling curriculum for children of incarcerated parents and addressing the mental health needs within schools.

Dr. Selma Koç

Dr. Koc is an Associate Professor of educational technology.  Dr. Koc’s research interests are online learning and assessment, immersive learning, web 2.0, technology planning and integration in K-12 and higher education.

Dr. Emily Kullman

Dr. Kullman is a faculty member in the Department of Health and Human Performance.  Dr. Kullman’s research spans several disciplines within the realm of exercise physiology which includes spaceflight, muscle physiology, sports performance, exercise and cancer, obesity, nutrition and metabolism.

Dr. Eddie T.C. Lam

Dr. Lam is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Graduate Sport Management Program at Cleveland State University.

Dr. Kelly Liao

Dr. Liao is an Assistant Professor in the Doctoral specialization program in Counseling Psychology.  Dr. Liao’s research entails being a research scientist at the Culture and Health Research Center at the University of Houston.

Dr. Kathleen Little

Dr. Little’s research interests focus on exercise and bone density in women and bone loss in amenorrhea athletes associated with the Female Athlete Triad.

Dr. Xiongyi  Liu

Dr. Liu is a Professor of Educational Psychology and Educational Research at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Liu’s research interests include computer supported collaborative learning, peer assessment, motivation, and self-regulated learning strategies.

Dr. Kathryn MacCluskie

Dr. MacCluskie is a Professor in the Counselor Education Department at Cleveland State University.  Dr. MacCluskie’s research interests include assessment and treatment of adolescents and adults. 

Dr. Anthony Menendez

Dr. Menendez is a Professor in the Department of Teacher Education Program at Cleveland State University.  He is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

Dr. James Moore

Dr. Moore is a Professor in the Department of Education and Human Services.  Dr. Moore’s research interests are in curriculum and instruction and a commitment to improving global and international education in K-12 social studies courses.

Dr. Laura Northrop

Dr. Northrop is an Assistant Professor specializing in literacy education.  Dr. Northrop’s research interests include educational policy, struggling readers, and using technology in literacy instruction.

Dr. O’Hara is an Assistant Professor of research for STEM Education in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.

Dr. Sheila M. Patterson

Dr. Patterson is Chairperson for the Department of Health and Human Performance at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Patterson’s research areas include accreditation, worksite health promotion, health disparities, and ethics.

Dr. Julia Phillips

Dr. Phillips is an Associate Professor and Director of Doctoral Studies for the Urban Education Ph.D. program in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education.  She is also Director of Training for the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology specialization of the Ph.D. program in Urban Education.

Dr. Poliga is Assistant Professor for the Teacher Education Department in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University. Her research interest includes early shildhood education.

Dr. Roland G. Pourdavood

Dr. Pourdavood is a full professot within the Teacher Education Department in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Pourdavood’s research interests focus on raising mathematical achievement of African-American students using social constructivist theory.

Dr. Terri L. Purcell

Dr. Purcell is Associate Professor of Literacy Education in the Department of Teacher Education at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Purcell’s research has focused on the development of emergent literacy skills and expressive communication skills (oral language and writing).

Dr. John Schaefer

Dr. Schaefer is an Assistant Professor in Special Education.  Dr. Schaefer’s research interests include education for individuals with severe disabilities, specifically focusing on support in the general education classroom through the use of evidence-based teaching methods, augmentative and alternate communication training, and peer mediated interventions.

Dr. Donna E. Palladino Schultheiss

Dr. Schultheiss is a professor in the Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Schultheiss’s research interests include adaptive function of interpersonal connection and the importance of the relational context on career progress, work and family integration, women’s work, international issues in psychology, parental and sibling attachment, college student development and adjustment, and elementary school-to-work intervention and assessment.

Dr. Kenneth E. Sparks

Dr. Sparks is Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Sparks’s research interest include treatment of cardiovascular disease and computerized programs for monitoring cardiac rehabilitation

Dr. Graham Stead

Dr. Stead is a Professor in the Department of Educational Studies, Research and Technology and Director of Student Learning and Assessment in the Office of Academic Planning.

Dr. Adam Voight

Dr. Voight is Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Research and Technology and Director of the Center of Urban Education and Human Services.  Dr. Voight’s research interests include interplay between young people’s social contexts-such as schools, neighborhoods, and families- and their educational, social, and emotional outcomes.

Dr. Patrick Wachira

Dr. Wachira’s research interests include the preparation of teachers to teach mathematics that develops understanding facilitated by appropriate and effective integration of technology in learning and teaching mathematics in a way that is culturally responsive.

Dr. Joan Annette Walker

Dr. Walker is professor of Practice for the CASAL (Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning) Department at Cleveland State University.  Dr. Walker’s research includes communication, school climate, and female leadership.

Lih-Ching Chen Wang

Dr. Wang is Professor of Education in the area of Educational Technology.  Dr. Wang’s research interests include a focus on technology integration in teacher education, eLearning, and the use of technology for Chinese language instruction. 

Dr. Karl F. Wheatley

Dr. Wheatly is an Associative Professor in Early Childhood Teacher Education and Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Program (PK-3).

Dr. Amanda Yurick

Dr. Yurick is an Associate Professor in special education and is a board certified behavior analyst.  Dr. Yurick’s research includes early reading intervention for children at risk for reading failure, the application of behavioral principles to teaching and learning, and the effects of treatment delivery on student outcomes.
