The AKA Family Legacy Scholarship Fund

The School of Urban Affairs is pleased to announce the creation of The AKA Family Legacy Scholarship Fund. This new scholarship celebrates the accomplishments of three CSU alumnae: Ariane B. Kirkpatrick ('10), her sister Amonica B. (Kirkpatrick) Davis ('90) and their mother, Aramenta B. Kirkpatrick ('90), who passed away in January, 2005. Ariane Kirkpatrick is the owner and president of The AKA Team, a multi-faceted company including AKA Construction Management, AKA Commercial Cleaning, AKA Waterproofing and AKA Construction. The company tagline is AKA: Always Known As... the TEAM you can depend on.
The scholarship fund will benefit both the School of Urban Affairs and the College of Education and Human Services. Ariane received her Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Administration from School of Urban Affairs while Aramenta and Amonica received Master's degrees from the College of Education and Human Services in Counselor Education and Adult Learning and Development respectively. "The School of Urban Affairs is deeply grateful to the Kirkpatrick family for this generous gift," commented Paul Wolansky, Senior Director of University Advancement. "The incredible careers of Ariane, Amonica and their mother Aramenta are a wonderful testament to their hard work and effort. These alumnae are wonderful role models for our current students."
At School of Urban Affairs, The AKA Family Legacy Scholarship Fund will provide a $1,250 scholarship over the next five years, beginning in the 2017-18 academic year, to a rising junior or senior student pursuing a degree from School of Urban Affairs. In years where a qualified undergraduate student is not identified, the scholarship shall be awarded to a graduate student at School of Urban Affairs meeting all other criteria. Preference shall be given to applicants with years of life experience beyond high school, whether significant work histories, family commitments, or balancing work and family responsibilities.
